Mumbai: Actress Taapsee Pannu, known for her unconventional career choices in Indian cinema, has shared her philosophy on life and work, stating that she has learned to “fearlessly own” her flaws and make them part of her identity. The actress, who transitioned from South Indian films to Bollywood, credits a shift in her mindset for her current success.
Pannu admitted that early in her career, she made decisions based on “tried-and-true formulas” that ultimately failed. This realization, she said, was a turning point. “I decided I’m not going to make the same mistakes,” she shared. “I’ll create some new ones.” This approach of “fearless authenticity” has become the core of her brand, influencing not only her filmography but also her business ventures, such as co-owning a badminton team.
In an industry often obsessed with superficial appearances, Pannu emphasized the importance of self-acceptance. “I might as well just embrace my imperfections and make them who I am without fear,” she said. She also criticized the modern obsession with social media validation, stating that for her, true success is measured not in likes or numbers, but in personal contentment. “The contentment of a good night’s sleep, the happiness of waking up, and the liberty to live her life as she pleases,” are her real indicators of success.

Having portrayed a number of strong, empowering female characters in films like Pink and Thappad, Pannu acknowledged her gratitude for the opportunity to tell women’s stories. She also gave a nod to other inspiring women in her life, including former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and actresses Vidya Balan and Priyanka Chopra.
On the professional front, Taapsee Pannu is set to star in the upcoming thriller Gandhari, where she will portray a courageous mother on a quest to rescue her stolen child. Known for performing her own stunts, Pannu promises an impactful, powerful, and thrilling cinematic experience that aligns with her reputation for authentic and powerful performances.
